Ah, the age-old dilemma of homeownership – sell or stay? It’s a tough decision, and it can be hard to know the right choice. But fear not, dear homeowner, for I am here to offer a few words of wisdom to help you make up your mind.
First, let’s ask the obvious question about selling. What is your WHY? Are you tired of the neighbors? Sick of the creaky floorboards? Space just not doing it for you any more? Just want a change of scenery? High-rise living no longer appealing? Tired of shoveling that snow or cutting that grass and want the freedom of condo living? Whatever the reason, let’s consider some pros and cons.
On the one hand, selling your home can be a great way to cash in on your investment and start fresh. You get to find your next dream home, and might even have one built to your specifications. You get to trade in those dratted neighbors for new, hopefully, better neighbors. Maybe you want more nightlife or to be closer to your job.
And of course, you get to make new memories. For instance, burn another Thanksgiving turkey, accidentally flood the bathroom, and give the best ever summer night dinner party. Moments such as these are part of what made your current home special and what will make your new home even more special.
On the con side… clearing those closets and corners. We all know, packing can be pesky as all get out. But fear not because there are many ways to accomplish this that take the onus off you. And of course, you have to decide, where to go. Do you want a lifestyle change? What might that be?
Ultimately, the decision to sell your home is a very personal one only you can make. But remember, whether you decide to sell or stay, there’s always one thing you can count on – the joy of home ownership. Because nothing says “I’m an adult” quite like spending your weekends doing home maintenance tasks.
